Plot Summary
Set in ancient China, the movie is about William Garin (Matt Damon), a European mercenary, and his companion Pero Tovar (Pedro Pascal), who arrive in search of black powder (gunpowder). They soon find themselves in a massive battle against frightening monsters known as the Taotie, who attack the Great Wall of China every 60 years.
The elite Nameless Order, led by Commander Lin Mae (Jing Tian), fights to defend the Wall. While observing their discipline, tactics, and bravery, William must choose whether to flee with gunpowder or stay to fight with them.
